Perched on the esplanade across from the beach, the Ambo delivers classic pub feeds without the waterfront price tag. Moreton Bay breezes drift across timber floors while locals line up for char-grilled steaks, crispy salt and pepper squid, and towering chicken burgers loaded with bacon and aioli. The kitchen bypasses bagged leaves to chop fresh capsicum for real pub salads, and regulars count on the surf and turf crowned with garlic prawns and rich mushroom sauce.
- Classic seaside pub feeds: Char-grilled cuts, schnitzels, and surf and turf topped with garlic prawns come in generous portions with freshly chopped salads.
- Foreshore setting: Directly opposite the beach on the esplanade, capturing sea breezes and panoramic water views.
- Full tavern facilities: A traditional tavern layout pairing breezy casual dining with a dedicated gaming lounge and sports bar.

K Fitzsimons Generous Servings That Keep You Satisfied
The kitchen turns out substantial meals with reliable speed even during peak rushes, serving piled-high burgers, steaks, and fresh chips.
Huge size (compared to the boutique “burger bars”), tasty and they didn’t skimp on the filling!

We felt valued, looked after, and relaxed — exactly how it should be when you go out.
Rebecca Hayes Unpretentious Charm Without the Tourist Markup
Diners enjoy old-school pub charm and generous portions at fair price points without coastal tourist premiums.
This joint’s got that old-school Queenslander Pub charm without the “tourist tax”—bloody miracle!
Jamie James Breezy Esplanade Setting by the Beach
Situated right along the esplanade directly opposite the water, diners catch sea breezes and open coastal views from lunch through dinner.
I also enjoyed the sea view and the breeze from the ocean flowing throughout the venue.
Kerri Clignett Effortless Stop During Market and Foreshore Days
Located along Redcliffe Parade, it serves as an effortless refueling stop for hungry visitors exploring the foreshore and local markets.
Despite the chaos and busyness of the Redcliffe Christmas markets, we were seated and served super quickly.

Before you head over
Helpful advice on parking, seating options, and meal timing for your visit to the Ambo.
Plan for Street Parking Along the Esplanade
On-site parking can be limited and challenging; plan to park slightly up or down Redcliffe Parade and walk in, especially during peak waterfront or market hours.
Choose Seating Based on Noise Preference
Outdoor seating faces the busy esplanade road with car and motorcycle traffic; opt for the secluded area out the back if you prefer a quieter dining setup.
Time Visits Around Mid-Week & Lunch Deals
Take advantage of mid-week lunch and dinner specials or lunch deals for high-value tavern classics like steaks and surf and turf.
