I have just over three hours between domestic flights and would love a quick city view, perhaps Mount Coot-tha. Is there enough time once travel back and boarding are included?
Mount Coot-tha is a poor fit if your connection falls in afternoon traffic. Check live travel times on the day and choose a closer stop only if you have a comfortable return buffer; otherwise enjoy the airport stop without risking the next flight.
Work backwards from the boarding deadline, not the departure time. Add the time to leave the terminal, travel each way, return through any required security and handle delays. A three-hour connection may leave very little time at a viewpoint.
