Choose a short route before you arrive, especially if you have limited mobility. Map the distance between your transport stop, the area you want to see and the restaurant rather than trying to cover the full riverfront at dusk.

Is late afternoon too late to explore South Bank in winter?
I may reach South Bank Parklands around 4:45pm on a July day. I want to see the gardens and river, then have dinner. How should I use the remaining daylight?

South Bank also works as an evening visit: the main parkland paths and dining precinct remain a pleasant way to see the river and city lights. Keep the daylight walk and dinner as separate parts of the plan.

If seeing the planting and paths in daylight matters, arrive earlier and make the gardens your first stop. Check sunset for your exact July date, as 4:45pm leaves little daylight in Brisbane's winter.
