Is late afternoon too late to explore South Bank in winter?

I may reach South Bank Parklands around 4:45pm on a July day. I want to see the gardens and river, then have dinner. How should I use the remaining daylight?

    If seeing the planting and paths in daylight matters, arrive earlier and make the gardens your first stop. Check sunset for your exact July date, as 4:45pm leaves little daylight in Brisbane's winter.
