About Bamiyan Restaurant

Camp Hill locals flock to this no-frills suburban outpost for aromatic, slow-cooked Afghan cooking and oversized naan baked to order. Forget tablecloth pretension—the kitchen commands the room with spiced mantu dumplings, juicy chargrilled skewers, and rich lamb kabuli palaw topped with slivered almonds and sweet carrots. Tables quickly fill with sprawling mixed platters, garlicky sauces, and bottles brought from home, scooped clean using fresh bread straight from the oven.

  • Corkage-free BYO dining: Guests bring their own bottles with zero corkage fees, pairing drinks freely with communal plates.
  • Made-to-order naan: Oversized rounds arrive blistered and hot from the oven, built for tearing and scooping up dips and curries.
  • Semi-private group dining: A curtained back space accommodates private gatherings and large celebratory group dinners.

The Bamiyan Advantage

Why diners choose Bamiyan Restaurant for authentic Afghan cuisine and gatherings

  • Authentic Afghan Specialties Made from Scratch

Slow-cooked curries, expertly seasoned kebabs, and authentic Afghan recipes are made fresh from scratch using traditional spices.

The food was authentic, fresh, and full of flavour — easily some of the best Afghan food we’ve had in Australia.

  • Oversized House-Baked Naan Bread

Generous, house-baked naans and traditional filled flatbreads are made to order, providing substantial accompaniments for scooping curries and sauces.

Love the size of the Naan, nearly had to slide another table over to fit it in :)

  • BYO Dining with Zero Corkage

Guests can bring their preferred drinks with zero corkage fees, with a bottle shop located conveniently next door.

The food is delicious and they are BYO. No corkage fee. The wine glasses are a good shape and size too.

  • Communal Feasting for Groups and Celebrations

Generous sharing platters, affordable group pricing, and private curtained seating accommodate family celebrations and gatherings.

We shared all our dishes and it's BYO which cut our overall bill down. We all paid $33 and had a great night.

  • Flavor-First Suburban Dining

An unpretentious suburban dining atmosphere where the kitchen prioritizes authentic homemade taste over formal decor.

The restaurant is not fancy, but it is clean and the food is absolute protagonist!

  • Easygoing Neighborhood Accessibility

A relaxed neighborhood space featuring convenient street and rear parking, outdoor dog-friendly seating, and laminated menus.

Street parking and small carpark out the back are available. We sat outside as the red decor and poor acoustics inside, are not to our liking. An added bonus was that it is BYO

Practical tips on ordering, timing, and BYO for your visit to Bamiyan Restaurant

  • Plan for Freshly Prepared Wait Times

Dishes and fresh breads are cooked to order by a small family kitchen, so expect meals to take 25 to 40 minutes during peak times. Calling ahead on weekends helps smooth the wait.

  • Take Advantage of Free BYO

The venue operates a free BYO policy with no corkage fee. You can pick up wine or beer conveniently from the bottle shop located right next door.

  • Portions and Naans Are Generous

House-made flatbreads and naans come out huge, and main portions are hearty. Plan to share communal platters or ask for a takeaway bag for leftover bread.
