Front-row counter seating provides a dynamic view of chefs slicing fresh fish and hand-plating raw sashimi specialties.
Sitting at the bar was definitely the right choice — it allowed us to fully appreciate the level of skill and attention to detail behind the food.

Guests experience an immersive culinary performance as chefs meticulously carve whole cuts and share samples directly across the bar.
He even let us have some fresh from the cut and plated it nicely so we felt extra special!

We went with one of the banquets, which I would definitely recommend if you want to try a bit of everything.

I’m a huge fan of a pork katsu sando, somehow they find a way to elevate a really simple tasty dish.
Diane Nguyen Sashimi Platter
One of the chefs, Nicolás, prepared a sashimi platter in front of us and it was honestly a highlight of the night. His knife skills were exceptional — precise, confident, and almost effortless to watch.
Javier Arellano Spicy Tuna Taco
The Spicy tuna taco and Wagyu tartare were stand outs for me, but every dish that came out we enjoyed.
Mark A Kingfish with Truffle Ponzu
The Kingfish with Truffle Ponzu and Ogo Nori was a favourite amongst my family. The kingfish was incredibly fresh with a tangy, flavourful sauce and the truffle added a nice depth without overpowering the fish.

Smoked Potato Mochi: Making it in the shape of a Senbei is such a cute touch, and the texture is very unique. The soy sauce is incredibly fragrant—I think I detected a hint of bonito in it?

Practical advice to ensure a seamless evening at hôntô
Locating the Hidden Entrance
The venue entrance is tucked down a back alley behind The Wickham with minimal signage on a black door, so check map coordinates carefully rather than looking for a standard streetfront façade.
Navigating the Low Lighting
The dining room embraces an ultra-dim, moody aesthetic where reading menus or navigating can be tricky, so keep a phone flashlight handy if you require extra visibility.
Securing Counter Seating
For a front-row view of culinary craftsmanship, request seats directly along the counter bar to watch the chefs slice fresh tuna and assemble raw dishes up close.
