About Kafenio

A rustic slice of Cypriot tavern life in West End, Kafenio trades white-glove polish for smoking charcoal spits, hearty portions, and wallet-friendly banquets. Expect zero pretense. Regulars pack the tables while elder locals sip coffee, roll dice at backgammon, and slap cards nearby. Dishes hit the table as they fire—charred lamb souvla, blistered halloumi, and tender grilled octopus passed down the table family-style. You can bring your own wine for a five-dollar corkage fee, load warm pita with taramasalata, and dig into hefty meat platters straight off the coals.

  • Charcoal Souvla & Coals: Lamb and chicken turn over live embers on the outdoor spit for platters, banquets, and loaded ten-dollar pita wraps.
  • Crowd-Sized Banquets & BYO: Adaptable feasts loaded with skewered meats, crispy keftedes, dips, and salads paired with an easy five-dollar BYO corkage fee.
  • Traditional Clubhouse Vibe: A welcoming village feel where neighborhood regulars gather for daytime coffee, backgammon, and casual card games.

The Kafenio Experience

Why diners choose Kafenio for authentic Greek feasts, village atmosphere, and honest value

  • Authentic Open Charcoal Spit Cooking

Dishes are cooked over active charcoal spits and open coals, delivering deeply seasoned souvla, smoky skewers, and tender char octopus.

They even had the spit & buckets of charcoal out, always a green flag. We got the banquet for 2 with chicken & lamb. Everything was delicious

Large tables gather over multi-course meat and seafood banquets paired with a modest $5 corkage BYO policy.

$145 to feed four people a Seafood Banquet! Unheard of!!! This was the best quality fish i’ve had in this city for years. A beautiful community with very considerate and friendly staff. We loved the $5 corkage fee
