Ruean Phae Thai delivers unapologetic Bangkok heat and fragrant curries in a modest Commercial Road workshop setting. An open kitchen sizzles right beside the compact tables—sending out rich Peking duck and pumpkin panang curry alongside bowls of tom kha gai. Longtime regulars pack the sidewalk tables with their dogs and cold bottles of Riesling from home, taking full advantage of the zero-dollar corkage. The kitchen refuses to dial back the spice or pile on the sugar unless you specifically ask, pairing wok-charred chicken with coconut rice and golden curry puffs.
