St Lucia locals turn to Shalom for uncompromised Indonesian heat and home-style cooking reminiscent of a roadside warung. Smoky char marks the ayam bakar, beef rendang simmers till tender, and bowls of rich soto betawi emerge with generous portions. QR-code ordering keeps the dining room humming with university students and groups swapping plates over tables. The house sambal delivers a sharp, unapologetic chili kick that lingers—and can be taken home by the jar.
- Take-Home Sambal: Fiery house-blended chili pastes pack genuine Indonesian heat and are sold by the jar.
- Warung-Style Comforts: Regional classics include smoky ayam bakar, tender slow-cooked beef ribs, and aromatic soto betawi.
- Casual Group Setup: Digital table ordering and a self-serve setup keep meals moving smoothly for communal dining.

Antique simon Uncompromising, Fiery Indonesian Heat
Shalom stays true to authentic chili intensity, offering fiery house-made sambal and sauces that avoid toned-down heat.
And it’s actually spicy! So rare to come across some authentic asian spice here so I was really happy
Rayna Nostalgic Taste of Traditional Warungs
Indonesian students, expatriates, and locals feel an immediate sense of home and warung nostalgia through familiar homestyle recipes.

Cameron Croft (areocam) Effortless Group and Team Gatherings
Generous portions, affordable pricing, and rapid service make Shalom a prime gathering venue for UQ student groups and lunch teams.
Went to the restaurant with a group of 12 for lunch. Great service, well priced meals with good choices and all of our meals arrived quickly and were delicious.
Cherie Take-Home Sambal Jars for Sharing at Home
Customers love the signature house-made sambal so much they purchase take-home jars to share or enjoy after dining.
If you’re into chilli, make sure you buy their Sambal sauce. It is incredibly good which made all of us to buy a jar each to take home.
