About The Oyster Shed

Sip a French Martini while shucked-to-order oysters land on your table under an hour off the lease. Tucked off the beaten track along the Tweed River, this rustic shack skips the white tablecloths for breezy riverside timber decks. Regulars head down for lazy weekend lunches that easily stretch across an entire afternoon—cold pinot gris in hand, watching pelicans glide past while kids toss bread crusts to the fish swarming beneath the boards. Trays arrive stacked with fresh prawns, Moreton Bay bugs, and natural oysters dressed with French shallot vinaigrette.

  • Lease-to-Plate Harvest: Oysters move from the adjacent farm lease to the kitchen and out to tables in under an hour.
  • Riverfront Timber Deck: An open-air timber deck looks out over the Tweed River with buckets of bread to feed the local fish.
  • Dog-Friendly Seating: Dedicated waterside tables accommodate guests dining with dogs.

Practical tips for booking, arrivals, and dining comfortably by the Tweed River.

  • Book Ahead for Waterfront Tables

Reserve in advance, especially for weekend long lunches, to secure prime waterfront views and avoid wait times when the deck fills up.

  • Request a Dog Table When Booking

If bringing a dog, explicitly request a dog-friendly table upon booking so staff can assign appropriate deck seating.

  • Watch for the Hidden Turnoff and Pack Layers

Look for the small access road and hidden driveway entrance off the main road, and bring a light jacket for coastal breezes on the river.
